Summer’s here, it’s starting to heat up, and so are we!

First things first. Conference registration is now open for our biggest event of the year, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference. The conference will take place Tuesday, October 1 at the JW Marriot in Washington, DC. There is a pre-conference reception the day before at Crimson on Monday, September 30 and the 2024 Your Honor Awards the day of (accepting entries for exceptional individuals and firms here). This is an incredible opportunity to meet and learn from the best. Will I see you there?

In addition, we have lots of in-person programming for you. Following on the heels of Virginia’s “Unleash Your Network at Ruff Canine Club” and “Amplifying Your Career Impact” events and LMANext’s “Going All-In on the Best Fit for your Career” in recent months, our Baltimore chapter will be hosting a “Sips and Sunshine Summer Social” on Thursday, June 20 at La Cuchara from 5-7pm. Our Capital Chapter will dance the early evening away at the Patrick Swayze-themed bar in the Vagabond on Thursday, July 18 from 5:30-7:30pm.

As the summer heat starts to slow us down, I’d like to remind you to keep at "it", whatever "it" means to you. Whatever you are working on, whatever you are striving towards, you may be on the cusp of something great. Don’t give up. I was reminded recently of the Stonecutter’s parable. Stonecutters (when they used to exist) were in charge of breaking large rocks. A stonecutter could work all day and all night hammering away at a boulder with a sledgehammer without so much as a crack to show for it. But then, suddenly the rock splits completely open. It wasn’t that last swing that did it, but an accumulation of all the others that came before it. Just because you can’t see progress doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
