Meet Beth O’Mahoney! Beth is a Business Development Director for Taft Law‘s Chicago office and serves as a Member-At-Large of the LMA Midwest Region Board of Directors. Beth shares about her travels to France, her hobby of reading, how LMA has helped her accomplish her career goals and more.
Tell us your story – where do you work and what do you do? I am a business development director for Taft Law’s Chicago office. I work with the 135 attorneys in my office on business development and marketing activities, as well as with the Intellectual Property and Public Finance groups. I have been in the legal marketing field since 2007 and a member of LMA since 2010.
What do you enjoy most about being an LMA volunteer? The people! I have met so many friends through LMA and it is a great way to build your network with like-minded people.
What are your hobbies? I love to read.
What was the best vacation you’ve ever been on? I would say my two trips to France. The first one I started in Paris and went to Versailles, Monet’s Gardens, the Normandy beaches and cemetery, and ended at Mont Saint-Michel. The second trip, I spent more time in Paris, then Fountainebleu and Chantilly, and ended in the Champagne region.
What travel spot is on your bucket list? So many! Australia and New Zealand.
If you could time travel, where’s the first place you would go? The 80s to see the bands I missed out on when I was too young.
What book are you currently reading? Atomic Habits by James Clear to prepare for the next LMA Midwest book club.
What would the title of your autobiography be? “People tell me I am quiet”

If you could appear on any game show, which one would you choose? The Price is Right and I would be playing Plinko.

Tell us something unique about your law firm or business. We just completed a remodel of our Chicago office where we expanded our space.
Which marketing leader do you most admire? I have been a fan of Peter Shankman for years. He founded Help a Reporter Out (HARO) and has written several books on customer service.
How has LMA helped you accomplish your career goals? LMA has given me opportunities to expand my skills and the confidence to seek more challenging positions.
What’s the best career advice that someone has ever given you? Take a project and run with it.
