The Neuropsychology of Bad Collaboration: Why Partners Falter So Badly

The Neuropsychology of Bad Collaboration: Why Partners Falter So Badly

Domains: Business of Law, Client Services

This science-based program will help participants understand the collection of cognitive biases and unconscious mindsets that control the behaviors of most law firm partners and which impair effective collaboration in developing and serving clients, including Hero Syndrome, Anti-Sales Stigma, Loss Aversion, Temporal Discounting, SuccessBias, and Egocentric Bias.

Moreover, participants will learn a collection of science-backed communication tools for helping partners at their firms see -- and overcome -- the biases that impair their collaboration abilities, and will walk away with a practical worksheet for implementing these tools upon returning to their respective firms. The program will be delivered in an entertaining and interactive way, so please come ready to laugh and have fun!

Learning Outcomes:
  • Understand the science of why so many partners struggle to collaborate in developing new clients and serving existing clients
  • Implement a collection of science-based communication tools for interacting with partners to help enhance the partners’ self-awareness and collaborative behaviors
  • Raise incisive, penetrating questions in ways that can catalyze partners to “flip” their un-collaborative behaviors
